Shortly after that, one of the glides on a freezer drawer wasn't working correctly and it had to be replaced. It had to be replaced but luckily, we had bought an extended warranty so we didn't have to pay for it. She was able to repair it and things were great again - until the water/ice dispenser stopped working later that year. An LG certified repair technician checked it a few days later and said it was a known design flaw ice would build up around the fan and when the fan turned on, it would hit that ice. Skip to year 2 - New Year's Eve and we kept hearing this loud noise whenever the fan came on. Unfortunately, that purchase will be a lot sooner than I expected. This is the only place I'll come to when checking reviews for my next fridge. How many other critical reviews, like mine, are conveniently missing from their webpage? I made sure I followed their Review Guidelines to the letter to ensure posting of my review because I believe the buying public has a right to be informed before they lay down their money for a product that should last 15 - 25 years. The critical reviews are stuffed way in the back.Įven after sorting the reviews for "Most Recent" or "1-2-3 Stars" my review still is not displayed. Despite having received numerous confirmation emails that the above review was posted on their website, I can find it NOWHERE!!! In fact, only the most recent positive reviews are immediately displayed. I wrote the exact same review and posted it on LG's website 4 days ago. you are throwing good $$$$$ after bad!!! FYI. I can guarantee my next fridge won't be an LG. I'm already putting money aside for another unit because I know this. This unit is just NOT built for that intended purpose. I need it to freeze my food, make ice in the icemaker (not BEHIND the back panel), and cool my food to prevent spoilage. I don't need my refrigerator to talk to me or keep track of my BMs. If I get 5 years out of this unit, I'll really, really be surprised. The fact that you have to purchase an extended warranty is very telling about the LG’s confidence in the quality of their product. I did not, nor do I intend to purchase another extended warranty. This is not a misaligned door/seal issue. There's frost/ice in the freezer vents again and condensation dripping from the control panel in the refrigerator. The icemaker - after only 10 months of use - quit making ice. It’s been randomly popping and cracking so loudly that my entire household jumps out of their skin. It is further distressing that a company can flat out not fulfill the warranty obligations of its products. I am being neglected and not responded to because of LG's lack of care toward its customers. I am not happy that Costco is also unable to leverage LG to address the issue. I have been without a refrigerator and have lost food to spoilage. I have spent countless hours trying to find a resolution. I have kept notes of the ineptitude of LG, its customer service, its repair services and its unwilling to fulfill the obligations of the warranty. I had contacted Costco and Costco and LG have been going back and forth to make a final determination to provide a refund. He installed the compressor under duress. I was able to get him the info so he could proceed. He did not want to talk to the LG customer service either. He said LG failed to provide him with the info to process the repair. He finally came to our house but refused to install the compressor because LG had not paid him for previous service calls and demanded payment for his services upfront. The repairman indicated that there are lots of other customers with the same problems - he repairs them and knows! Sick! Very upset, and there doesn't appear to be any concern from LG.Īfter several calls to LG a second technician came and also determined it was a defective compressor. It is terrible that LG knows these problems will come up due to poor manufacturing and if the consumer doesn't buy the extended warranty it is obvious that they know they will make their money by charging for parts. The refrigerator that cost more than $2400 on sale has only been used 2 years and has had the two same problems. Their attitude is terrible when it comes to customer service. LG refuses to take any responsibility for this problem. The parts that had been ordered on Apcame in a full 7 weeks later (almost 8) and were replaced on June 5, 2018. Meanwhile, we were out-of-town and came back to a refrigerator of food that had thawed and needed to be thrown out - hundreds of dollars. On Aphe ordered the parts for the error message from LG. The repairman was called locally, who had done the first repair however, he was no longer on LG's service list for the area because he refused to work with them due to low pay, problems with getting parts, etc.
